“We believe we are very close to ending malaria deaths in the next several years,” says the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, who is part of a worldwide delegation that is meeting with members of Congress Nov. 27, 2012, on behalf of the Lutheran Malaria Initiative. The group is advocating for funding for anti-malaria programs in Africa. The group met with U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., and was scheduled to meet with U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., among other lawmakers and their staff members.
