“They hear from people who come to talk with them about tax policy and about issues before the regulatory agencies, but, I think, too often they do not hear from the church,” said Tim Goeglein, vice-president for External Affairs, Focus on the Family, in a conversation in front of the U.S. Capitol with LCMS President Matthew C. Harrison on the positive benefits of church members reaching out to their elected leaders. Harrison was in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the Lutheran Malaria Initiative to take part in a day of congressional visits to encourage U.S. lawmakers to support ongoing anti-malaria programming overseas.
