As the first day of official business at the 65th Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod draws to a close, delegates, guests and volunteers express their joy at the opportunity to join together in work, worship and fellowship. One highlight: President Harrison receives the historic gavel from Concordia Historical Institute used by Synod presidents since 1911 to open Synod conventions. The convention is meeting July 20-25 at the America’s Center Convention Complex under the theme “Baptized for This Moment.” Among convention participants are some 1,200 clergy and lay voting delegates.
